Police-Crime-Scene
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating crimes against persons, property, and any unsolved cases.

How cases are assigned
When you file a report with the police department the report is approved by a supervisor and then sent to the records division. If the case is an unsolved crime the report is sent to the Captain over CID who will review the case for the potential of solvability. If enough factors are present, the report will be assigned to a detective for further investigation. Once assigned, the investigator has the responsibility to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the case to a conclusion. Throughout the investigation the investigator will keep the victim up to date on the case status.
