Can I receive permission to burn in the city?
All open burning requires permission from the Fire Chief. City ordinance allows a limited type of open burning in the city limits. Only small piles of leaves, branches, and grass may be burned. Call GFD to speak to the Fire Chief.
Can someone request the fire safety house for a program?
Yes, but we will need advance notice of one week to make sure a fire prevention specialist will be available. Please call the Fire Station at 254-865-6416 to determine availability.
How do I schedule a tour of the fire station?
Contact any member by calling the Fire Station at 254-865-6416.
What should I do in the event of a fire?
Get out immediately, stay out, and call 911 from a safe location. Make sure everyone in the home is accounted for and never re-enter a burning structure.
