Police Chief Candidates Announced
Residents Invited to Community Meet & Greet
Gatesville City Manager Brad Hunt has announced three finalists for the Chief position for the Gatesville Police Department. Mr. Hunt and the selection committee chose from 17 initial candidates and eight semifinalists. The finalists are:
- Jeffrey Clark, currently a Deputy Chief at the Temple Police Department, a position he has held since 2016. He has over 31 years of experience in law enforcement, with over 12 in a command-level position. He has spent his entire career in Temple. Mr. Clark has a Bachelor of Arts degree from American Military University, is a Certified Public Manager graduate from Texas State University, and has attended several law enforcement leadership courses, including the FBI National Academy (Session #255).
- Douglas Rude, currently a Lieutenant at the Plano Police Department, a position he has held since 2016. He has over 31 years of law enforcement experience, with over eight in a command-level position. He spent eight years in Temple before moving to Plano. Mr. Rude has a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University, and has attended several law enforcement leadership courses, including the FBI National Academy (Session #288), 93rd ILEA School of Supervision, and Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (Class #91).
- Brian Wyers, currently a Deputy Chief at the Copperas Cove Police Department, a position he has held since 2017. He has over 29 years of law enforcement experience, with over 13 in a command-level position. He has spent his entire career in Copperas Cove. Mr. Wyers has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tarleton State University, and has attended several law enforcement leadership courses, including the Bill Blackwood LEMIT Command College.
Local residents will have a chance to talk to the candidates and give input to the City Manager during a Community Meet & Greet session, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on November 7th, at the Gatesville City Council Chambers, 110 North 8th Street. We invite you to attend!
