Bulk Trash and Recycling Center
In February, 2023, the City of Gatesville implemented a residential curbside recycling program through Waste Management. With this new program in place, the city has discontinued the provision of the recycling compactor at the public service center located at 106 S. 23rd Street. However, it is essential to note that certain recycling services will still be available at the public works service center.
The city will continue to accept and collect:
- Used cooking oil
- Motor oil
- Antifreeze
- Metal
These will be collected at the public works service center from Monday to Friday, operating between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for City of Gatesville residents. This service remains unaffected by the curbside recycling program.
Additionally, for the disposal of bulk items, the public works service center will be open on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturday of each month, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This schedule allows Gatesville residents to dispose of larger items in an environmentally friendly manner.
Residents will be required to provide Driver’s License and a recent City of Gatesville Utility bill to utilize these services. For any inquires or concerns regarding recycling services in the City of Gatesville, we encourage you to contact city hall at 254-865-8951. Thank you for your cooperation in making Gatesville a greener and more sustainable community through recycling efforts.

Used Cooking Oil
Fats, Oils and Grease otherwise known as FOG can cause blockage in sewer lines. These blockages can cause sewage to overflow into your home, neighborhood and streets. Not only does this pose a health risk, it can also run in to a nearby stream or river which affects our drinking water. It can also cause lift station failures and wastewater treatment plant problems. To properly dispose of cooking oil:
- Let the cooking oil or grease cool to a safe handling temperature.
- Once cooled, pour the oil into a jar or bottle with a lid.
- Take the oil to the Gatesville Recycling Center.
- Carefully pour the used oil into the recycling bin marked for cooking oil.
- Recycle the oil container, or reuse it next time you fry food.
