If you wish to file a formal complaint against a Gatesville police employee, there are instruction forms in the lobby of the police station located at 200 N. 8th Street. Once you have returned the formal complaint, a police supervisor will be assigned to investigate it. You should receive a response within 30 days of filing your complaint. If you have a minor complaint, you may call the police department at 865-2226 and ask to speak to a supervisor. You may contact the Chief of Police if you believe your complaint was not properly investigated. If the nature of your complaint is a criminal allegation against a police employee, contact the Chief of Police immediately.
First, you must file a police report. The report will then be checked by a police officer or investigator. If the report meets legal criteria for charges you will be notified when and where to sign a complaint.
You may call the police department and tell the dispatcher your name and when you reported the crime. You will be given further instructions on getting the information.
You may get a copy of an accident report by contacting the Gatesville Police Department at 200 N. 8th street.
If the crime happened inside the city limits, you should report the crime to the Gatesville police at 200 N. 8th street. You may call the police department at 865-2226 and an officer will respond to your home or place of business in Gatesville to take your report. If the offense occurred outside the city limits, you should call the sheriff's department at 865-7201.
